It is time, in the era of Industry 4.0 and the smart factory, to make servo manufacturing automatable. The technology leader Intercontec got to grips with this issue at an early stage and completely overhauled the successful M23 connector series. Together with a well-known cable manufacturer and automation specialists, the connector specialists began a pilot project and implemented it jointly. The 4.tec connection system is now freely available on the market.
What is special about it is that it is a modular concept in which customers can determine the degree of automation themselves on an individual basis. Individual modules, such as the automated shield connection, can be realised separately. Depending on the number of units required and the process reliability requirements, the degree of automated assembly can be self-determined accordingly.
In addition to the M23 6-pin variant which is already available, from the beginning of next year the customary 8-pin and 9-pin versions will also be available.
"The advantage is a huge amount of time saved," says Intercontec head of marketing Siegfried Funk. "The automation of the shield connection alone reduces assembly times by around 30 per cent and increases the process reliability to 100 per cent."
At the same time, the EMC characteristics are improved in the patented shield connection to top levels that have not been seen before in this range.
The company is noted for its global outlook: regardless of location and without the use of specialist personnel, this new system enables servo connections to be made, reproducibly, with a consistent level of quality, at any time and anywhere in the world.
Thanks to its simplicity, the 4.tec connection system can be processed in a cost-effective way from a batch size of just 1.
